SEMPORNA: Two men were detained following two operations carried out by the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division here on Friday.
District Police Chief, Supt Tan Hiap Wah, said both arrests were the result of intelligence and continuous monitoring conducted by police in several locations identified as high-risk areas.
Tan said the first suspect, a 20-year-old Filipino who was acting suspiciously, was detained at Jalan Jeti Umum.
“Result of inspection on the suspect found substances believed to be Syabu weighing 5.85 grammes inside his pocket. The man was detained for investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” he said.
In a separate operation at Kampung Sejati Satu, a 28-year-old man was detained after being found in possession of drugs believed to be Syabu weighing 0.15 grammes.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(3) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
Tan stressed that police will not compromise on any individuals involved in drug activities.
He added that police would continue their commitment to combating criminal activities, including drugs, in the district.
Authorities also welcome cooperation from the public to report any information about criminal activities to ensure the district remains free from drug threats.
