Kota Kinabalu: A 71-year-old self-employed was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here Friday with murdering his 44-year-old former fiancée, whose dismembered remains were recently discovered in a communal bin at Taman Indah Permai, Sepanggar.
Piluta Samad nodded and said he understood the charge when it was read to him before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus.

No plea was recorded from Piluta as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Piluta allegedly murdered an undocumented Hamidah Husin @ Lisa on Feb 11, between 6pm and 7pm, at a house in Kampung Sri Kenangan, Jalan Sepanggar, here.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code provides for the death penalty or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane, if not sentenced to death, on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutors (DPP) Kareena Kaur Gill Karamjit Singh applied for another mention date pending DNA, pathology, forensic and chemist reports.
The prosecution did not offer bail due to the seriousness of the crime.
Dzul Elmy fixed April 15 for mention and ordered Piluta to be further remanded. Piluta was unrepresented.
