RM3.1 million distributed to 51 sports bodies this year
Nizam said the State government also presented incentives totalling RM807,050 to Sabah athletes who excelled throughout 2025, with RM269,850 given to able-bodied athletes and RM537,200 to Para athletes.
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Ministry of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Thursday distributed an annual grant of RM3.1 million to 51 sports associations in the State that are registered under the Sports Commissioner’s Office.

Its Minister, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, called on the associations to use the financial assistance from the Sabah government to carry out athlete development programmes efficiently and responsibly.

“Don’t let this allocation go to waste because this is the people’s money. So, I urge all associations to plan, scrutinise and implement their respective programmes with total commitment.

“I want the expenses incurred to be returned to the ministry in the form of genuine reports and data that can be used to further develop the quality of sports in the State,” he said.
