LABUAN: Sports enthusiasts expressed doubts on the new date of August 31, 2026 for re-opening the upgraded and renovated Labuan Sports Complex.
“When the Complex project which commenced in December 2021 after almost five years have only half the works completed would be able to complete the remaining 50 per cent of the project within the next six months, the projection appears unrealistic to us,” said veteran sportsman Alan Chin, 72, acting as spokesman of sports buffs.
Alan was as referring to the new completion date announced on the project by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol after a site visit last week and briefed on its progress from JKR Labuan director Ir Mohd Faizul Ali Hanapiah.
Among the facilities that have been completed were the Hall and Administration office building, tennis courts, street lighting and the badminton courts located in the multipurpose hall.
