SEMPORNA: The 22nd Battalion General Operations Force (PGA) Kunak seized 115 cartons of untaxed cigarettes and arrested a 25-year-old foreign man during a roadside raid on a Perodua Myvi at Jalan Kg Selamat on Sunday.
The operation under Op Taring Alpha 1 was conducted with the Semporna district police following intelligence.
The suspect allegedly acted as a runner for RM100 and sold cigarettes around Kg Selamat.
The vehicle was also confiscated, bringing the total seizure value to RM51,400.
The case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967 and Immigration Act 1959/63, with investigations ongoing to trace other syndicate members.
