LABUAN: It may not be a roaring start but it’s certainly an encouraging one for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 here, with more Chinese tourists from Beijing landing to enjoy the wonders of marine life and balmy environment of nearby island Rusukan Besar and other attractions.
“In recent months, about 30 tour groups took advantage of the direct Beijing-Brunei flights to hop over here via boat for a 3-day-2-night stay.
“Most enjoyed the clean and uncrowded island without any commercial distractions, enabling them to bask in sunshine as if the whole resort island belonged to them. It was a rare experience for many,” Labuan Tour Guides Association President Kok Su Kian said.
The association had been aggressively promoting Labuan in China and Kok was happy that the efforts were bearing fruits.
