KOTA BELUD: Five members of a family narrowly escaped death when their four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle skidded and fell about 15 metres into a ravine at Kampung Pituru Laut on Tuesday.
The victims included a married couple aged 44 and 40, and their three children aged between four and 10.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Elge Bakuk said the department received an emergency call at 8.01pm and dispatched eight personnel with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.
“The victims had been brought to the roadside with the help of the public before our team arrived,” he said.
All five sustained injuries and were given initial treatment by EMRS personnel before being transported to Hospital Kota Belud.
The fire team also inspected the vehicle and surrounding area to ensure safety. The cause of the accident is under investigation, and the operation concluded at 9.07pm.
