Kota Kinabalu: The upper floor of a two-storey shophouse at Beverly Hills Bundusan, in Penampang, was destroyed by fire on Wednesday.
Firefighters received a distress call at 8.51pm and a team from Penampang arrived at the scene at 8.58pm. The blaze was brought under control by 9.22pm.
Twenty-nine firefighters from Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Putatan fire stations battled the flames by using two water jets.
Police, Civil Defence Force and the Red Crescent Society personnel were also at the scene.
No casualties were reported. The operation ended at 10.28pm after firefighters confirmed there were no further dangers at the site.
Meanwhile, four non-permanent houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Tanjung Aru Baru on Tuesday.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 2.54pm and arrived at the scene, about 3km away, four minutes later.
A total of 29 firefighters from Kota Kinabalu and Putatan stations, assisted by 27 members of the Tanjung Aru Community Fire Brigade, were deployed.
The operation was led by PPgB Mohammad Hannis Moktar with PPgB Rony Sikawan. Officers from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Headquarters were also present.
Other agencies involved were the Civil Defence Force (APM) and Sabah Electricity.
The fire was brought under control at 3.25pm and the operation ended at 5.05pm with no casualties reported.
