Kota Kinabalu: Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&NHB) has contributed over RM33,000 towards the revitalisation of Tun Fuad Stephens Botanical Park, funding the planting of 210 trees and plants, including native Borneo species such as Spathodea campanulata, Kayu Malam and Bougainvillea.
Beyond greening efforts, F&NHB’s support extends to upcoming enhancements, including the revitalisation of gazebos and the installation of directional signages, to create a more welcoming and inclusive public space for the community.
The initiative was launched Sunday under the Jejak Botani Programme held in conjunction with Kota Kinabalu City’s 26th anniversary.
Kota Kinabalu City Hall’s Planning and Development Sector Director General Datuk Lifred Wong officiated the event on behalf of Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah.
The F&NHB’s involvement marks the company’s 60th anniversary in East Malaysia.
“This meaningful collaboration reflects our deep appreciation for the communities that have supported us over the decades and underscores our ongoing commitment to giving back in meaningful and lasting ways,” said Domestic Commercial Operations (Malaysia) Managing Director Lau Cheng Yew.
The park, formerly a popular spot for jogging and family outings, was closed in late 2022 for renovations. Rebranded last year as a botanical park, it now features a 2.1-kilometre main jogging trail and several hiking paths.
The initiative is supported by Borneo Springs, F&NHB’s natural mineral water brand. Company representatives participated in the Mayor-led floral walk and tree planting activities, while F&NHB volunteers provided beverages for participants throughout the day.
“This initiative reflects our enduring commitment to delivering pure enjoyment, pure goodness, while building meaningful partnerships that create lasting impact for generations to come,” Lau added.
