Kota Kinabalu: The 2026 Series 1 Open 9-a-side Football League Tournament organised by BMU Football Club is set to take place at Padang Ganang Kepayan on April 26.
It is limited to 24 teams with an entry fee of RM300 per team.
The champions will receive a cash prize of RM2,000 along with a trophy and medals, the runners-up will get RM1,000 and medals, while the joint third-place winners will each take home RM400 in cash and medals.
Organising Chairman Ninewjo Newmond said the tournament is aimed at promoting and discovering new talents in the Kota Kinabalu area as well as promoting racial unity among youth.
“Football is an effective medium for strengthening relationships among youth, fostering racial unity and building camaraderie.
“We hope that through sports activities, youth from diverse backgrounds can socialise, collaborate and compete in a healthy manner,” he said.
