KOTA KINABALU: Police crippled a major drug distribution syndicate with the seizure of 537.804 kilogrammes of various narcotics worth RM69.6 million and the arrest of four locals in Penampang under Op Bayu 2.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the operation by the Sabah Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) began with the arrest of two men at T1 Bundusan on Feb 5, where 101.7kg of suspected methamphetamine valued at RM5.66 million was found in a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Follow-up raids at several locations including Millennium Heights, Forest Hill Residences and Taman Seri Rasa in Luyang uncovered larger quantities of syabu, ecstasy powder, ecstasy pills, ketamine and Eramin 5, along with equipment believed used for repackaging.
The total seizure comprised 111.3kg of syabu, 419.62kg of ecstasy powder, 6.787kg of ecstasy pills and smaller amounts of ketamine and Eramin 5, estimated to be capable of supplying more than 339,000 users.
The four suspects, including three men and one woman, are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while police also seized vehicles, mobile phones and cash believed linked to the trafficking activities.
