Man who bashed wife held
SEMPORNA: Police arrested a 43-year-old local suspected of assaulting his wife at a homestay in Kampung Bangau Bangau, here, on Monday.

District Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah said the man was detained on Wednesday upon receiving information.

The couple initially argued over a woman who was with the suspect during the incident on Feb 9.

During the argument, the 42-year-old victim was punched by her husband causing injuries on her mouth and face.

“A remand application on the suspect will be submitted for further investigation under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 326A of the Penal Code.

“Further check on the suspect found he had no previous criminal record,” he said.

In the meantime, Tan said police are looking seriously on cases involving domestic abuse and will not compromise against those who commit domestic violence against their partner or family members.

He also advised the public to settle any argument(s) prudently and to not act against the law.
