LAHAD DATU: Three foreigners were detained and over five grammes of Syabu seized following operations in Semporna and Lahad Datu on Tuesday.
Lahad Datu Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division arrested two foreigners during operations at Kampung Merabung on Jalan Lahad Datu-Tungku.
The first suspect, a 39-year-old man, was detained around 12.15am inside an unnumbered house, where 0.11gm of Syabu and some drug-related tools were found.
At about 1am, a 43-year-old man was apprehended at the veranda of another unnumbered house in the same area, with 0.26gm of Syabu and drug-related tools. Both tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
Dzulbaharin said the cases would be investigated under Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
Meanwhile, Semporna Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah said a foreigner was detained at Kampung Panji after acting suspiciously and aggressively during an approach by police.
Inspection found 5.57gm of Syabu. The suspect, who could not produce valid ID, was taken to Semporna IPD for further investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
