Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) will be sending a team to compete in the first edition of the National Karate Kata U14, Cadet, Junior and Senior Championship to be held at the Bukit Jalil Karate Training Centre.
SKA secretary general Julian Chin said the team led by Grace Tiwon as team manager with Farlin Frederick and Clevelence Carlos as coaches will consist of 11 females and eight males.

The athletes competing in the individual events are Habib Luthfi Habib Taha (U14 male); Aunie Qaisara Mohd Nazri (U14 female); Danish Rayyan Rajis (cadet male); Nur Ain Humairah Abdul Rahman (Cadet Female); Zoe Moniesha Marius (Cadet Female); Sierra Dyanne Lorimer (Cadet Female); Adlin Vince Viceroy (Junior Male); Ryyen Ryye Gerrard Rojin (Junior Male); Al Zovainz Zurizal (Junior Male); Nur Rsyiqah Fariah Razmi (Junior Female); Siti Nur Zawiyah Zainal Abidin (Junior Female); Adlin Vince Viceroy (Cadet & Junior male); Ryyen Ryye Gerrard Rojin (Cadet & Junior male); Al Zovainz Zurizal (Cadet & Junior male); Mohd Haznil Henry (Senior male individual); Mukhriz Mazlan (Senior male individual); Alvince Zurizal (Senior male individual); Audrey Adreana Baking (senior female individual); Lovelly Anne Robberth (senior female individual); Niathalia Sherawinnie Ak Yampil (senior female individual); Naccy Nelly Evvaferra Rojin (senior female individual); Ivy Olivera Donny (senior female individual).
Competing in the team events are Adlin Vince Viceroy, Ryyen Ryye Gerrard Rojin, Al Zovainz Zurizal (Cadet & Junior male team); Zoe Moniesha Marius, Sierra Dyanne Lorimer and Siti Nur Zawiyah Zainal Abidin (Cadet & Junior female team); Mohd Haznil Henry, Mukhriz Mazlan and Alvince Zurizal (Senior male team); Niathalia Sherawinnie Ak Yampil, Naccy Nelly Evvaferra Rojin and Ivy Olivera Donny (Senior female team).
Chin also expressed his optimism about the team’s preparation.
“There will be no target set for the athletes. All of them are preparing well here with the exception of Haznil, Alvince, Mukhriz, Lovelly, Niathalia, Ivy and Naccy, who are based in Bukit Jalil.
“We only expect them to do their very best in the competition and hopefully it will serve as a platform to some of the younger athletes to gain valuable experience,” he said.
