KUNAK: The General Operations Force (PGA) Kunak arrested a local man and seized 288 cartons of suspected untaxed cigarettes worth RM105,360 in Kg Pangkalan water village on Sunday.
The operation, carried out by the Long Range Patrol (RJJ) team from Tiger Platoon, Battalion 22, around 12.30am, followed continuous intelligence gathering and monitoring in the area.

During a search of an unnumbered house, officers found various brands of suspected untaxed cigarettes hidden in a wardrobe.
The male suspect was arrested, and all items were handed over to the Criminal Investigation Division of Kunak District Police Headquarters for investigation under the Customs Act 1967.
The PGA said the success of the operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence work and the team’s ongoing efforts to combat smuggling.
“Intelligence and patrol efforts will continue to be enhanced to ensure smuggling activities are suppressed for the safety and well-being of the community,” the statement added.
