Kota Kinabalu: Sabah DAP Wanita Chief Bronica Sikula congratulated Datuk Julita Mojungki on her appointment as Sabah’s Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing, while calling for greater female representation in the State’s leadership structure.
She noted that the appointment recognises women’s leadership in Sabah’s administration, aligning with the Sabah Harapan Wanita’s Commitment 2025 that emphasises women’s roles as pillars of family wellbeing, community development and overall State progress.
However, Bronica who is also Sabah Pakatan Harapan Wanita Secretary, pointed out that women’s leadership must be strengthened beyond ministerial level to include assistant minister positions.
“With only five out of 73 state assembly seats, or 6.85 per cent, held by women, appointed assemblyperson positions should prioritise women to reduce the significant gender gap,” Bronica said.
Bronica called on all parties, from grassroots to State institutions, to continue supporting principled women’s leadership.
“Through the spirit of Sabah Harapan Wanita 2025, women’s leadership will drive Sabah toward greater prosperity, fairness and hope,” she added.
