SEMPORNA: The Kunak 22nd Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) seized a total of 2,200 litres of petrol in Ops Taring Esscom and Taring Bravo 1 off north Pulau Mataking.
The Kunak GOF, in a statement, said a team carried out an integrated operation in the area last Saturday following intelligence gathering and spotted a suspicious speedboat.
During inspection, another suspicious boat operated by a local man nearby was detected.
Both skippers were detained and all the seizures, worth an estimated RM41,830 were handed over to the Semporna Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 22(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
