SANDAKAN: Police here arrested three individuals, including a foreigner, suspected of robbing a middle-aged woman at a house in Batu 7, recently.
District Police Deputy Chief Supt Ramasamy Kuppan said the woman was robbed in her sleep while she was home alone on March 20.
“The victim was asleep when she was attacked by an unknown man who had broken into her house through a window,” he said.
The suspect is believed to have fled with items worth about RM20,000, including a handphone and jewellery.
Ramasamy said police received a report about the incident at 1.30am on March 21.
“Following the report, police conducted several operations and nabbed three suspects, including the main suspect, who is an undocumented man, on March 24 and March 25,” he said.
A pawnshop operator and another person were also arrested to facilitate investigations into the case, he said, adding that it is being investigated for robbery and under several other Acts.
He urged the public to be mindful of their safety and to report any criminal activity to the police to assist investigations.
Ramasamy said they believe the main suspect is involved in other criminal cases as well, and that investigations are being carried out from various angles.
