PAPAR: Sabah Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) Youth chief Ag Zakariah Ibrahim (

He said Shafie, during his time as Chief Minister, failed to honour his commitment to appoint Dr Daud as Agriculture Minister despite promising him the role.
“That promise came from Shafie himself, but in the end he gave the strategic portfolio to Tanjung Aru assemblyman Datuk Junz Wong, who had no background in agriculture or livestock,” he said on Friday.
“Meanwhile, Dr Daud — a veterinary doctor with qualifications in livestock and agricultural studies — was made only an Assistant Minister with no executive authority,” he said.
Ag Zakariah said the decision sidelined Dr Daud’s expertise and denied Bongawan residents the agricultural progress they needed.
He added that Shafie’s move showed Bongawan was never a priority for Warisan, stressing that the same pattern of slow development and limited economic activity continued throughout Dr Daud’s two terms as assemblyman.
“If this is the performance over two terms, what will Bongawan’s future look like if he is given another chance?” he said.
He warned that Bongawan voters cannot afford to risk electing a candidate “who was never trusted by his own party leader.”
Ag Zakariah said Warisan treats Bongawan as a “safe seat,” urging voters to send a message in PRN17 by choosing a more steadfast and capable leader.
“The people must choose someone courageous and firm—like GRS candidate Tan Sri Anifah Aman, who has proven his resolve,” he said.
He added that Anifah had defended Sabah’s rights under MA63 even when it meant going against the Barisan Nasional leadership while serving as Kimanis MP and Foreign Minister.
“That bold stand cost him a show-cause letter, yet he continued the fight and later left Umno to form his own party,” he said.
Ag Zakariah cautioned that repeating past mistakes would leave Bongawan trapped in stagnation and uncertainty.
“This is not the time for experimenting—this is the time to save Bongawan from further neglect by choosing Tan Sri Anifah as our elected representative,” he said.
