TAMPARULI: Upko Honorary President and Tamparuli candidate Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau says he forgives individuals and parties who smeared his name during the election campaign.
According to Madius, he was informed that baseless statements and personal attacks were made against him by the opposing party’s campaigners during their ceramah (political talks).
“At Upko, we practise mature politics and do not attack other candidates. Regardless, I am prepared to forgive them,” he said.
“We choose to focus on Upko’s ‘Sabah First’ agenda, including our commitment to defending Sabah’s 40pc net revenue rights and ensuring the full implementation of MA63 for Sabah’s future.
“I offer principled, honest and corruption-free leadership. My focus is on the people’s development, not responding to personal attacks,” he explained.
The Tamparuli seat will see a 13-cornered contest, the highest number among the four state constituencies in the Tuaran parliamentary constituency.
Apart from Madius, the other contenders are Dr Bonaventure Boniface (GRS), Dr Lee Han Kyun @ Joseph Lee (Warisan), Jinitoh Sontori (Star), Gaim @ James Lunkapis (KDM), Aliusus Sipil (Rumpun), Vun Yun Fook (Independent), Julia Ongkili (PIS), Arthur Erik Lee (Anak Negeri), Samson S Koroh @ Razali Suffian (Independent), Johan Jahid (Independent), Andrew Mali (Independent) and Raymond Alfred @ Jenry (Independent).
