Zara accused after missing RM20 despite no evidence
KOTA KINABALU: The Coroner’s Court heard that Zara Qairina Mahathir was accused by her classmates of stealing RM20 despite no evidence being found during a classroom spotcheck.

Teacher Mohd Sham M Nasir, 27, in reading his witness statement, that the incident occurred on July 14 last year when a student reported losing money while going to the science laboratory.

A spotcheck involving bags, wallets and pockets of all students, including Zara, found nothing.

However, after the lesson, the student handed Mohd Sham a note with Zara’s name written on it.

He said he immediately warned the class not to make accusations without proof, although two students supported the claim by alleging Zara had been involved in similar incidents before.

Mohd Sham said discussions among students continued, and he believed Zara could hear the accusations but showed no visible reaction.

He again advised students against making unproven claims before leaving the classroom.
