KOTA BELUD: Former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said he attended the “KJ Turun Sabah” programme on Thursday, out of a two-decade friendship with GRS Tempasuk candidate Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari, not as a political strategy.
Khairy described Arsad as a loyal friend who gave up the comforts of business life to serve the community, noting that the decision came with sacrifices that altered his daily life.
He said Tempasuk needed leaders who put public service above personal gain, adding that Arsad remained committed and promising as he seeks re-election in a seven-cornered contest.
Khairy noted the strong turnout from GRS, PKR, PBS and several local veterans, urging voters to give Arsad “another five years” to continue his work.
Arsad said Khairy’s visit boosted his morale ahead of polling, describing it as a reminder of long-standing friendship rather than political calculation.
