SANDAKAN: Warisan candidate for Gum Gum, Arunarnsin Taib, criticised the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) interim government, claiming it failed to continue the original development plan for the Gum Gum Tamu, which was first conceptualised during Warisan’s previous administration.
He said the market was initially planned to be developed in an orderly and phased manner, with continuous improvements until the entire structure was fully completed.
“I was the first person to propose the construction of the Gum Gum Tamu Market under a more organised plan when we were the government.
“However, the structure that stands today is incomplete and does not follow the original planning,” he said after a campaign visit to the market, Sunday.
He stressed that the plan required gradual development with continuous upgrades, but claimed these efforts were not continued after the change of government.
The incumbent expressed confidence that the development of Gum Gum town, including the market plan, would be continued if he is given a renewed mandate in this election.
