TAWAU: Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Sri Tanjong, Philip Yap Wui Lip, accused Warisan’s Justin Wong of fabricating facts about his defection from DAP and misleading voters.
Philip said Justin’s recent video claiming he (Justin) left the PH because the coalition planned to join the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) State Government was contradictory and factually incorrect.
“If a politician is willing to fabricate timelines, how can we trust them to speak the truth?” Philip said in a statement.
He pointed out that Justin announced his departure from Sabah DAP on Jan 20, 2022, while PH only joined the State Government after the failed Langkah Kinabalu on Jan 5, 2023, nearly a year later.
“The gap of almost one year proves his claims are fabricated. Justin should come clean and apologise instead of creating excuses to mislead voters,” Philip said.
Philip said after Justin’s departure, the Tawau DAP team shouldered all responsibilities left behind, maintaining regular Sunday service counters at the Sin Onn Market and organising community programmes and cultural celebrations.
“The people of Tawau are not blind. They know who truly works for them and who has disappeared.”
