Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC will be seeking consistency to beat Penang FC in this Sunday’s Super League match at the Likas Stadium starting at 7.30pm.
The team has yet to win a league match this season, but head coach Jean-Paul de Marigny (pic) is confident the team will turn their fortunes around if the players can stay focused and avoid making any errors throughout the match.
“Our main focus is to maintain consistent performance throughout the match until the 95 to 96 minutes or whatever it takes.
“Our last match in the semi-final tie of the FA Cup against Selangor FC, where we excelled in the first half, but the drop in intensity in the second half that cost us the win was an important lesson,” he said.
He also warned against complacency against the visiting team who are only a point ahead and two places above Sabah FC in the league table.
“Penang FC are a quality team despite the slow start. We must ensure that we are at our very best to get a win over them,” he added.
He called on the fans to come in large numbers to give their support to the team.
“We are always acknowledging the fans’ support. Their presence plays a vital part to a team’s success.
“We are hoping more will turn up this Sunday because their support will be the driving force for us to grab the full three points.”
