SEMPORNA: A 36-year-old man has been reported missing after he disappeared while diving for fish with friends off Pulau Bum-Bum on Wednesday evening.
Lagete Gildik was last seen at about 7.15pm before failing to resurface, prompting his companions to alert the authorities.
The State Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call from the Semporna Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) at 9am on Thursday.
A seven-member team from BBP Air Semporna, supported by MMEA, the Civil Defence Force and Police, launched a Search and Rescue operation in the surrounding waters.
The operation was halted at 5pm due to fading light and is expected to resume on Friday morning as crews continue the search for the missing diver.
