RANAU: A youth engagement programme here drew an encouraging turnout as young women joined a lively dialogue with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
Held at the Kampung Pasir Putih community hall, the session unfolded in an open and relaxed setting where participants discussed the roles of women and young women leaders, local welfare concerns and issues shaping development in the district.
The programme was designed to give young women a space to voice their views, with topics ranging from job opportunities for female youth to local economic growth and the need for better basic amenities to support community involvement.
Participants and villagers were also able to pose questions directly to Masidi, who offered explanations on women’s leadership, youth participation and development plans for the district while sharing experiences from his years in public service.
Co-organiser, PGRS deputy youth women’s chief Nur Syafika Jimmyryn said the platform boosts confidence among young women to take part in local development efforts, adding that similar sessions will continue to ensure their aspirations are heard, before the programme ended with a souvenir presentation and group photo.
