RANAU: Two men from Keningau have been remanded for four days after police caught them allegedly stealing Telekom Malaysia (TM) cables in the Ranau district.
The suspects, aged 39 and 44, were arrested following a police chase after they sped off when stopped during a traffic operation in Kundasang Town on Tuesday morning.
Officers later found rolls of red TM cables, copper wire, and cable cutters in their vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia in one of their backpacks.
Both men tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine during urine tests and were taken to the district police headquarters for further investigation.
The incident has caused widespread disruption to Unifi and fibre internet services across the district, affecting thousands of users in recent days.
