Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), in collaboration with Kinara Energy Sdn. Bhd. and Cape Renewables Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Cape EMS Berhad), successfully hosted an Exclusive Session on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Solar Solutions at the Hyatt Regency, Kota Kinabalu.
The event gathered key stakeholders from government, GLCs, and the private sector to explore the latest innovations and partnership opportunities in renewable energy (RE)—supporting Sabah’s transition toward a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future.
In his welcoming remarks, Datuk Lee Swi Heng, Vice President of MICCI, emphasised MICCI’s commitment to fostering awareness, collaboration, and investment in clean energy technologies.
He highlighted that by integrating renewable technologies, Sabah can enhance its energy security while driving sustainable industrial growth.
The session was attended by representatives from Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd., Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC), Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS), Invest Sabah, Qhazanah Energy, and Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) along with participation from key industry players namely; Gamuda, YTL Hotel & Properties, CoastAdv, Easy Solar, Solarvest Borneo, BSL Eco Energy, SMR Biotech, and representatives from the finance sector, SME Bank and Etiqa Insurance.
Expert speakers were brought in from China, including Ms. Selene Wang, Head of Southeast Asia of Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co. Ltd., and Mr. Hayden Qi, Sales Manager of Jiangsu Gnetek New Energy Technology Co. Ltd., who presented cutting-edge innovations and case studies on solar technology and BESS applications.
Their sessions highlighted practical strategies to address Sabah’s growing energy needs through renewable energy integration.
