Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Company Secretaries Association (SCSA) has been established as a professional body representing company secretary practitioners in the State.
Led by its charter president, Christina Lo, and supported by an executive committee, the newly registered association aims to promote professionalism, integrity and excellence within the company secretary profession in Sabah.
The association was formed in response to the growing need for a unified platform to represent, support and advance the interests of company secretary practitioners in the State.
SCSA said the role of company secretaries has become increasingly strategic in modern organisations as governance, regulatory compliance and corporate accountability continue to evolve.
It aims to build a strong and credible professional body that elevates the standards of Sabah company secretaries and recognises them as strategic partners in organisational leadership.
Among its key objectives are promoting high professional standards, enhancing continuous professional development through training and seminars, and advocating for the profession in policy discussions and regulatory reforms.
The association will also support good corporate governance practices, facilitate networking and collaboration among practitioners, and provide mentorship for young and aspiring company secretaries.
The executive committee comprises Christina Lo (President), Leon Ng Choon Leong (Deputy President), Stephanie Lo (Honorary Secretary), Mandy Lo (Assistant Honorary Secretary), Edwin Bridget Chung (Treasurer), and committee members Richard Ku, Adrienne Wong, Erica Chung and Khoo Ya Nee.
Membership is open to qualified company secretary practitioners recognised under the Companies Act 2016 who hold a valid practising certificate issued by the Companies Commission of Malaysia and who were either born in Sabah or have resided in the State for at least five years.
