SANDAKAN: A 66-year-old was found dead inside his home at Jalan Labuk Batu 8, here, after firefighters forced open the locked door Saturday morning.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station chief Jimmy Lagung said the department received an emergency call via MERS999 at 9.07am before deploying a team and a fire engine to the scene, about 10km from the station.
“The team arrived at 9.36am and found the house locked from the inside.
“Firefighters used special equipment to open the door and discovered an elderly man unconscious in one of the rooms,” he said in a statement.
Health Ministry personnel at the scene later confirmed that the victim, identified as Wong Kim Hau, had died.
The body was handed over to the police for further investigation.
