TAWAU: Parti Warisan Deputy President Datuk Darrel Leiking said the party was established with an inclusive spirit for all Sabahans, championing a Sabahanism agenda rather than favouring specific districts or ethnic groups.
He dismissed claims that Warisan prioritises certain communities, pointing out the party’s commitment to uniting all Sabahans.
“Warisan’s policy has always been clearly inclusive. I, President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and all our party leaders make selections based on capability,” Darrel told reporters at a meet-and-greet session with residents at the Kukusan state constituency in Muhibbah BAL on Tuesday.
“We assess individuals based on their achievements and abilities, not their identity card postcodes. We’re all Sabahans, so we work for everyone,” he said.
He said Warisan’s leadership comes from diverse districts across Sabah, showing the party is not exclusive to any particular group.
“We want to eliminate narrow politics based on locality or ancestry that only divides Sabahans. But our opponents use such issues to undermine public confidence in Warisan,” he said.
Darrel said Warisan’s ultimate goal is to unite Sabahans regardless of race, religion or region, embodying the true spirit of Sabahanism.
He urged the public not to be swayed by propaganda attempting to stoke racial or regional tensions, but instead remain united under the Sabahan spirit.
