Two arrested in Tawau over rape of teen girls
ACP Jasmin said both suspects are now in custody, with investigations ongoing under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for the first case and Section 376 for the second.
TAWAU: Two men were arrested in connection with separate rape cases involving two teenage girls here.

District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the first case involved a 15-year-old girl who was found to be six months pregnant after undergoing a medical check at a clinic in Taman Sawit.

Her foster sister, who accompanied her to the clinic, lodged a police report after learning about the pregnancy.

“The complainant told police that her foster sister had been taken by her boyfriend to a house in Taman Sri Balung, where she was raped,” Jasmin said.

Following the report, a Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) team launched an operation and arrested a 19-year-old suspect at Bandar Sri Indah, Batu 10, Jalan Apas.

In the second case, a 23-year-old man was arrested at the Tawau Airport compound for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.

“The victim had asked permission to go out around 8.30pm on May 26 to meet a friend, who later turned out to be the suspect,” Jasmin said.

He said the girl later returned home in a state of trauma and told her mother she had been forced into a car and raped in the Batu 2, Jalan Apas area.

Police tracked down and arrested the suspect shortly after receiving the report.

Jasmin said both suspects are now in custody, with investigations ongoing under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for the first case and Section 376 for the second.

He reminded parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s activities and whereabouts to prevent them from becoming victims of such crimes.
