LAHAD DATU: The Program Perumahan Rakyat Sejahtera (PPRS), under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to providing comfortable homes for rural communities.
Lahad Datu Umno Division Chief, Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul, said the initiative demonstrates the government’s dedication in ensuring the people’s wellbeing remains a top priority.
He said recipients of the PPRS housing assistance were grateful for the meaningful initiative, which has improved their living conditions.
“For the Lahad Datu parliamentary area, a total of 40 new houses and 168 repaired homes are being implemented under the PPRS.
“The programme is being carried out by the implementing agency, Giat Mara Sabah, and is expected to be completed within this year,” he said when attending the PPRS key handover ceremony in Kampung Teluk Suaion, Kampung Sapagaya and Kampung Bukit Belacon, Segama, recently.
Sharif said the PPRS initiative is also complemented by the Dream Home Electrical Maintenance Programme (Seri), which not only enhances housing facilities but also provides hands-on training opportunities for Giat Mara trainees in the field.
He expressed appreciation for the strong cooperation among beneficiaries, Giat Mara, KKDW and local leaders that contributed to the success of the programme.
“The programme is expected to have a positive impact on the well-being of rural residents and strengthen community development in line with the Malaysia Madani aspiration,” he added.
Also present were Special Duties Officer to the KKDW Minister, Datuk Maizatul Akmam Ahmad Alawi, and Giat Mara Sabah Director, Azizudin A. Aziz.
