KENINGAU: Some 30 prospects at the Henry Gurney School (SHG) completed a six-month Basic Agriculture Course jointly organised by the Management of SHG and JJ Farm Onsoi
They were taught grafting techniques, planting, fertilising as well as plant care by JJ Farm Onsoi Manager Datuk Jamawi Jaafar and officers from SHG. Jamawi, who is also Sabah Urban Development Corporation Sdn Bhd Chairman, hoped they will fully utilise the knowledge once they are released.
“Do not waste the knowledge you have received from this course as it is extremely beneficial for your future,” he said, at the prize-giving ceremony at the Collection Centre SHG.
Participants received certificates as a token of appreciation and acknowledgement of their commitment in the agricultural field.
Jamawi said the agricultural sector is important as it is one of the main economic drivers of the country, especially in the efforts of developing rural communities.
The sector aligns with the Government’s wishes to reduce reliance on imported agricultural goods and materials.
SHG Director Sirajuddin Abdul Majid applauded the participants who have shown high commitment throughout the course and training.
He also commended Jamawi and his efforts for ensuring that the program was a success.
