RANAU: The Information Department (JaPen) Ranau held the district’s first 2022 Merdeka @ Community Programme in Kg Waang, near here, recently.
JaPen Ranau officer, Kenny Thomas said Kg Waang was the first location for the implementation of the Merdeka @ Komuniti Daerah Ranau programme and would continue to be held in every village until the day of the festival itself.
According to her, the programme was held to further fuel the spirit among all walks of life on the celebration of the National Month this time around, especially after the past two quiet years.
“The Merdeka @ Community programme in Kg Waang is carried out in collaboration with JPKK Kg Waang chaired by Ajilee Lubin and Malaysian Family Community Chairman, Romzi.
“The programme was inaugurated by PPM Dun Karanaan, Rosdi Abdul Ghani, and was attended by more than 60 villagers here, while also present was, CDO, Haji Suhaimi Manjun,” explained Kenny.
Meanwhile, various activities were carried out, including a children’s colouring competition, a patriotic song singing competition, briefing on current issues and a draw for lucky visitors held in conjunction with the National Day Celebration in Kg Kibbas, here, following the programme in Kg Waan
Kenny said the Merdeka Program @ Kg Kibbas Community is the second location in the national month expedition throughout August and September.
She said the programme organised by the Ranau JaPen received a favorable response with the attendance of more than 80 residents of Kg Kibbas.
According to Kenny, the overwhelming presence of the villagers reflects the unity and solidarity of the community.
“The National Day theme of 2022 “Malaysian Family Strong Together” was translated so lively in the celebration of national month through the Program Merdeka @ Komuniti in Kg Kibbas.
“I am confident and believe that the spirit of belonging and close cooperation shown by the residents here is not a new thing but has been in their blood for a long time.
“This spirit is what we want, especially in fueling the celebration of the national month among the people regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity as well as status within the community,” she said.
Community Development Leader Karanaan, Rosdi Abdul Ghani in his speech also said that the national day that is celebrated is not limited to the slogan of independence but needs to be followed by a responsible attitude and cooperation among the population.
He also praised the leadership of Kg Kibbas led by JPKK Chairman, Jorius Aban for their efforts in ensuring that the national month celebration in this village runs smoothly.
