Kota Kinabalu: The Iftar Ramadan Madani (Irama) programme, organised by the Sabah Islamic Development Organisation (Ideas), Yayasan Taqwa and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council, reached out to 100 asnaf in the Sepanggar area.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, said the programme aimed to assist those in need while strengthening ukhuwah (brotherhood) in line with the Malaysia Madani concept.
“The value of compassion, which is a core principle of Madani, calls on all parties to go beyond the ordinary in doing good, including going to the ground to better understand the hardships faced by the people, especially the asnaf group.
“The Government, through the Prime Minister’s Department, remains committed to intensifying efforts to eradicate hardcore poverty by providing assistance not only as a short-term solution but also by building a sustainable economic ecosystem to enable vulnerable groups to become self-reliant.
“The Government and State leadership are also committed to ensuring the continued well-being of the community,” he said when officiating the programme at Masjid Al-A’la in Kampung Lokub, Sepanggar.
During the event, he also presented cash assistance and food baskets to the recipients.
