SEMPORNA: An early morning fire destroyed a two-storey shop building near a fuel station at Batu 1/4, Jalan Bubul, here, Saturday.
District Fire and Rescue Station chief Rastam Keladi said his department received an emergency call at 5.06am regarding the incident.

A team of eight firefighters was deployed to the scene in a fire engine, with assistance from BBP Atas Air Semporna.
Upon arrival, the team found the fire involving a shop measuring 30 by 50 square feet. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze using a 200-foot hose line and two nozzles connected to water from the fire engine and a nearby hydrant.
The fire was brought under control at 6.04am and fully extinguished at 7.19am.
The shop was about 95 per cent destroyed in the incident.
The operation ended after firefighters ensured there were no further hazards at the scene. The cause of the fire and total losses are being investigated.
