SEMPORNA: A Special Task Force from the 22nd Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA) Kunak, together with the Sabah Department of Veterinary Services (JPVS), crippled an illegal storage and sale operation involving fighting cocks during a raid under the Integrated Khazanah Operation – “Op Taring Kandang” – in Kampung Tanjong Kapor on Tuesday.
During the operation, authorities arrested a 29-year-old local man believed to be involved in breeding and selling fighting cocks without valid permits.

According to a statement issued by PGA Kunak on Wednesday, the suspect is believed to have been operating the activity since 2024, involving foreign-breed fighting cocks smuggled into the country illegally.
“The chickens were sold at prices reaching up to RM8,500 each,” the statement said.
Authorities also seized 47 chickens, including male and female birds, along with arena equipment and medications believed to have originated from Thailand and the Philippines.
The total estimated value of the seizure was RM288,650.
The suspect and all seized items were handed over to the Semporna Department of Veterinary Services for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Animal Welfare Enactment 2015.
