Chamber achieves fund target
Lau said the achievement marked an important step in strengthening the chamber’s long-term development and business networking capabilities.
Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia China Chamber of Commerce Sabah (MCCC Sabah) has achieved its “Million Revenue Fund” milestone, strengthening the chamber’s ability to organise large-scale activities, improve member services and expand international collaborations.

Its President Datuk Dexter Lau said the achievement marked an important step in strengthening the chamber’s long-term development and business networking capabilities.

Speaking at the chamber’s 6th (2025–2028) First Annual General Meeting (AGM), Friday, he said membership continued to grow despite the increase in Life Membership fees to RM6,000, reflecting strong support and recognition from the business community.

“As membership continues to expand, the chamber will place greater emphasis on member quality and business growth potential moving forward,” he said.

Lau said factors such as company scale and future growth potential would be considered when selecting members to participate in key high-level business activities.

“This is aimed at enhancing the chamber’s commercial value, resource integration capabilities and international collaboration opportunities while building a stronger and more influential business networking platform,” he said.

He said the chamber organised three family-style networking dinners, three Platinum Club high tea sessions and its annual gala dinner themed “Classical Elegance · Radiant Night” over the past year to strengthen member relations and reinforce the chamber’s brand influence.

Lau also announced plans to organise the “Malaysia-China Enterprise Synergy Gala Dinner” in southern China in November this year.

He said the event would bring together business leaders, investors and industry players from Malaysia and China through high-level networking and strategic engagement.

“The initiative aims to further strengthen Malaysia-China business cooperation while creating more cross-border business matching, collaboration and investment opportunities for members,” he said.

Lau thanked council members and the Women Entrepreneurs Committee for their continued support and cooperation, saying their collective efforts enabled the chamber to maintain active and stable growth.

He also urged members to continue supporting chamber activities and strengthen cooperation, networking and business development opportunities.

“I firmly believe that as long as we continue working together, MCCC Sabah will rise to even greater heights and contribute further towards economic, cultural and friendly relations between Sabah and China,” he said.

Meanwhile, MCCC National President Datuk Loo Kok Seong, in an online address, said the Sabah chapter’s contributions and development had gained wide recognition over the years.

He said successive presidents had demonstrated strong leadership in promoting business development, networking and commercial exchanges.

According to him, Sabah’s rich natural resources, tourism assets and strategic location, combined with Peninsular Malaysia’s industrial ecosystem and China’s technological and industrial strengths, created significant potential for cooperation.

He said sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, green economy, digital economy and artificial intelligence offered strong prospects for collaboration.

A total of 35 members attended the AGM, including council members, Women Entrepreneurs Committee representatives and board members of Koperasi Usahawan Utama Sabah Berhad.

Also present were Honorary President Datuk Michael Chin and Honorary Advisor Michael Pan.
