KOTA KINABALU: The Thonny Chee Initiative (TCI) is looking to work closely with the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) to strengthen service delivery at the grassroots level.
The commitment was conveyed during a courtesy visit by TCI founder and chairman Thonny Chee to UPPM director Datuk Awang Kadin Tang at Menara Kinabalu, where both sides discussed potential collaboration in community development efforts.
TCI, a non-profit guided by “Practical Compassion,” sees UPPM as a key partner in understanding and addressing community needs.
It also proposed joint leadership and skills training programmes for Community Development Leaders under its BLESS (Borneo Learning & Empowerment Skills Society) platform.
“TCI is ready to collaborate with UPPM. Helping the people requires strong synergy between government machinery and NGOs. We are prepared to contribute our expertise and resources to ensure aid reaches target groups effectively without being left out,” said Thonny.
TCI also welcomed UPPM’s openness to NGO involvement, describing it as a reflection of the state government’s commitment to cross-sector cooperation for the wellbeing of Sabahans.
