Kota Kinabalu: Several main roads around the State capital will be closed for the Hari Etnik Sabah 6.0 celebration, held in conjunction with the Official Birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah this Saturday.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD) Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Chief, DSP Khazrul Shah Annuar Ahmad, said the measure is to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety throughout the event.
“The main routes affected by closures and diversions include the stretch from Bulatan Kapital (Bandaran) to the JQ traffic lights, including the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) and Bulatan Istiadat.
“In addition, road closures for the full rehearsal will be carried out on April 24 starting at 2.30pm, while on April 25, closures will begin as early as 4pm.
“A total of four senior police officers and about 30 personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow during Hari Etnik 6.0,” he said.
He also advised the public to plan their journeys in advance to avoid traffic congestion during the event.

“The public is also encouraged to use alternative routes recommended by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and to avoid parking on main road shoulders as it could disrupt traffic flow.
“We also hope the public will comply with instructions from police officers and traffic personnel stationed at the locations to ensure smooth movement and safety throughout the celebration,” he added.
