Kota Kinabalu: The newly established locally-based Out Back Adventure 4X4 (OBA 4X4) is set to spread its wings to other parts of the country.
Its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Mohd Yunus said during the club’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House held in Tanjung Aru on Saturday that their aim is to create a platform to bring together extreme motorsport enthusiasts starting in Sabah with the long-term vision of expanding their operations to the national stage.
“The establishment of OBA 4X4 is not only focused on Sabah, but rather encompasses the entire country to unite the four-wheel drive vehicle enthusiast community in one structured and high-impact platform.
“It was created as a platform for all groups interested in this extreme sport. We see it as more than just a hobby or interest, but has the potential to generate economic activity and activate social activities.
“Through this platform, various activities can be implemented including community programmes, humanitarian aid and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, especially for communities in remote areas that are difficult to access,” he said.
According to him, the club, which was officially formed last November currently has more than 100 members.

“Membership is still open to the public without strict conditions, other than a deep interest in 4x4 sports.
“It is not mandatory to own a 4x4 vehicle to become a member. What is important is the interest. We only charge a registration fee of RM50 and a minimum annual fee to support the implementation of programmes and activities,” he said.
