Kota Kinabalu: A 43-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Wednesday with trafficking 108.71gm of 3,4- Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA).
No plea was recorded from James Wong Sieh Wei after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin.

Wong allegedly committed the offence on April 1 this year, at 9.30pm, in front of the Family Care Clinic Beverly, Penampang.
The charge, under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries the mandatory death penalty or life imprisonment, along with a minimum of 15 strokes of the cane, on conviction.
The prosecution applied for another mention date pending the chemist’s report and offered no bail, as the charge does not allow for it.
Marilyn fixed May 12 for mention while awaiting the chemist’s report. Wong was ordered to be further remanded.

In another case, a 32-year-old man was jailed eight months for trespassing into a store.
Mohd Fazli Ag Kupun pleaded guilty to committing criminal trespass into a store belonging to Akbar & Omar Enterprise Sdn Bhd in Putatan at 3am on March 30.
He was charged under Section 448 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to three years, or a fine of up to RM5,000, or both, on conviction.
The prosecution said the complainant discovered Fazli inside the store during an inspection and detained him before contacting the police. Police later arrived and arrested Fazli, who was taken to the station for further action.
The complainant confirmed that no items were missing following the incident.
Fazli was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest. Inspector Yusdi Basri prosecuted.
