RANAU: A senior citizen and another man were severely injured when the four wheel drive vehicle they were in collided with a trailer lorry along Jalan Ranau-Sandakan near Kampung Nunuk Ragang on Tuesday evening.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department chief Rantey Fred said the incident happened at about 5.30pm and a call was received via the NG999 line at 5.37pm.
A team of eight personnel led by Operations Commander Niel Thompson Lee was deployed to the scene located about 50 kilometres from the station.

“The accident involved a trailer lorry and an Isuzu D-Max carrying a 78-year-old driver and a 24-year-old passenger, with one victim trapped and successfully extricated by the Fire Department,” he said.
He added that both victims were sent to the Paginatan Health Clinic for treatment while the 43-year-old lorry driver was uninjured, and the operation involving Health Ministry personnel and police ended at 7.27pm.
