Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old man was jailed a total of 15 months by the Magistrate’s Court here on two charges involving stolen property.
Mohd Nazrul pleaded guilty to committing the offences against him.
On the first count, he was jailed eight months for assisting in disposing of stolen items, namely a television, an adapter, a remote control, a microwave oven and a teddy bear on March 10, at 1.30pm, at a unit in UUC Apartment, Manggatal.
The charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, or a fine, or both, on conviction.
On the second count, he was jailed seven months after pleading guilty to keeping two electric fans belonging to one Ariklin Denley at the same place and time.
The charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between six months and five years and liability of a fine, on conviction.
The facts of the first case, stated that a police report was lodged after items belonging to a tenant at the complainant’s uncle’s house were found missing.
Following his arrest, Nazrul admitted knowledge of the whereabouts of the stolen items and led police to their recovery.
The items were later identified by the owner.
Meanwhile, the facts of the case of the second count, revealed that the two fans were among items reported stolen from the complainant’s aunt’s house, which had been broken into on March 2 this year.
Nazrul was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest.
