LAHAD DATU: The institution of the Sabah Head of State should be preserved as a unifying pillar and kept separate from partisan discourse.
Political observer M Ridzal (

He said the Head of State, appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, carries out constitutional duties on the advice of the Chief Minister and Cabinet while serving as a unifying presence for all communities.
He said the position requires a high level of respect and distance from party political disagreements to maintain its integrity.
He added that policy and administrative matters are the responsibility of the government of the day, while the Head of State stands above such considerations.
On the Governor’s official birthday celebration, he said the annual event reflects longstanding state protocol and includes honours, public engagements and welfare initiatives that promote unity and well-being.
Referring to Tun Musa Aman, he said the former chief minister’s 15-year tenure contributed to Sabah’s development in areas such as the economy, infrastructure and governance, alongside continued involvement in community and welfare initiatives.
