TAMPARULI: Repair works on the Tamparuli bridge, particularly the low-level crossing that serves as a key link for the local community, are expected to be fully completed by August this year.
Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said the timeline was conveyed by concessionaire Globinaco Sdn Bhd during a briefing on the bridge’s current status on Thursday.

He said inspections found further settlement of about 10mm on the bridge’s concrete slab, requiring careful rehabilitation works, including structural strengthening through jacketing and piling for piers three and four, each expected to take about two months.
Madius also said plans for a new bridge are currently at the design stage and expressed hope the process can be expedited to ensure a safe, durable and high-quality structure for the public.
He added that the priority remains user safety and smooth daily connectivity for Tamparuli residents, and that he has requested the Public Works Department to issue an official written statement while he continues to monitor the project’s progress.
