Kota Kinabalu: This year’s official birthday celebration of the Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri will be conducted modestly, focusing on cost-efficiency without compromising the programme’s substance.
State Youth Development, Sports and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said the approach aligns with the current economic climate while ensuring every programme benefits the public and delivers meaningful messages.
“Twelve programmes have been scheduled, beginning with a Thanksgiving Ceremony, Prayers and Solat Hajat at the State Mosque on March 27.
“Key events include a parade and award presentation for the drill competition at Padang Merdeka, followed by the Conferment of State Orders, Medals and Decorations at Istana Seri Kinabalu, and the State Banquet at the Dewan Bankuasi, State Legislative Assembly, on March 30,” he said.
Nizam also announced that the Unity Recreational event with the Governor will be held at the Likas Sports Complex Lake Park on April 11, followed by a shooting event with the Governor and State Cabinet on April 12.
“Traditional Sabah sports such as blowpipe, wrestling and sling activities will be featured to enliven the event. It offers the public an opportunity to engage directly with the Governor, strengthening the bond between leaders and the community,” he added.

“Other programmes include a Cultural Parade from Lintasan Deasoka to SICC and an Ethnic Day celebration expected to involve over 100 Sabah ethnic associations at SICC on April 25,” he said.
The celebration will conclude with a Tea Gathering with Children at the Tawau Community Hall on April 30.
