Motorcyclist killed in Lahad Datu crash

LAHAD DATU: A 41-year-old Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) personnel was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car at Km 57 along Jalan Lahad Datu-Tungku, on Monday.

It was learnt that the motorcycle was heading towards Lahad Datu from Tungku, while the Proton Preve was travelling in the opposite direction when the incident occurred at 8.10am.

District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the Preve was entering a junction to Kampung Sibural on the right side of the road when the motorcycle crashed into it.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to suffer serious injuries and he was sent to Tungku Health Clinic by the public for further treatment.

Dzulbaharin said the case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged those who witnessed the incident to contact Traffic Investigation Officer, Insp. Jafri Junat, at 089-881255 or go to the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
